Volkswagen does make quality EV vehicles. Don't take our word for it, though. Consider some of the awards the ID vehicles have won. The ID.4 has won the MotorWeek Drivers' Choice Award for Best EV, is an IIHS Top Safety Pick, and won the World Car of the Year when it was released. The ID.Buzz was on TIME's 2024 list of the Best Inventions, Car and Driver's 10Best list, and was a finalist for North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year. If that's not enough to convince you, put these electric VWs to the test today with a test drive.
The best Volkswagen EV for a family depends on the size of the family. The ID.Buzz has more seats available and more passenger space, which is probably a better bet for more established families. The ID4 is a great option for young families as it seats 5 with plenty of storage for things like strollers, sports equipment, and anything else you may need for the kids.
The VW EV you should buy comes down to price point, needed space, and range options. The ID.Buzz is the more expensive of the two VW EVs when accounting for trim options. It is also the larger of the two vehicles. The ID.4 has a longer range but only offers space for 5 passengers as opposed to the 7 passengers for the ID.Buzz.
Charging VW EVs is as simple as unlocking the vehicle to open the charge port, connecting the charger to the vehicle, and making sure that the charging indicator is lit to ensure that it is charging. Locking the vehicle will keep the charger locked in. After you are finished, press the unlock button on your key fob three times to be able to remove the charger.
