VOLKSWAGEN ATLAS CARGO AND TOWING CAPABILITIES
Atlas according to Greek Mythology was the titan responsible for bearing the weight of the world on his shoulders. That was a burden imposed on him by that mythological meanie, Zeus.
But with the new Volkswagen Atlas for sale from Napleton's Volkswagen of Orlando, we aren't talking about any beast of burden, here. Instead we are discussing the largest vehicle in the Volkswagen lineup, and it would be natural to think it also has the largest cargo capacity of any vehicle the company makes. You would not be wrong.
And how about towing? A bigger SUV usually means a bigger boat, a bigger trailer, a bigger jet-ski and even a pen of piggies (This little piggy went to market…literally). Once again, the Atlas thrives in this capacity, too. Simply put, bigger is better.

In the case of the Volkswagen Atlas, we are talking about large and in-charge. When first opening the doors of the Atlas, we are looking at truly one of the most cavernous vehicles the VW brand has ever made. From a cargo carrying standpoint, it is gifted.
In the very back, behind the third row, drivers can store 20.6 cubic feet of luggage, supplies and things. Fold the back (third) row forward and that space grows to an impressive 55.5 cubic feet. Finally, go for the whole enchilada, and fold forward the middle bench seat or the pair of captain's chairs (On Atlas SE or above) for nearly 97 cubic feet (actually 96.8 cubic feet) of cargo-hauling space. It's just the thing for making a home improvement store run (Loads of mulch or plants for the front lawn, or a full array of gear for a camping weekend.
And then there are the roof racks. Dealer installed roof racks allow owners to travel with additional items on top of the vehicle. Consult with your VW of Orlando sales associates for more information. The load you can carry is only limited by your imagination…and the laws of physics.
TOWING THE LINE
The new Volkswagen Atlas isn't a slouch when it comes to towing, either. As equipped from the factory with the full VW Atlas towing package, with trailer braking capabilities, the Atlas can handle up to 2,000 of trailer weight when equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine.
Up the power with the available 3.6-liter 276 horsepower, 266 lb-ft of torque V6 in either front or all-wheel-drive 4MOTION drivetrain, and you will see your towing capacity increase from 2,000-5,000 pounds. That includes the aforementioned bigger jet-ski, bigger boat, bigger house trailer and big pigs.
That's quite a heavy haul.
