Volkswagen Atlas - Nirvana in Three Rows

Nirvana is described as the ultimate feeling, the highest level, the most and the best. Typically used to describe the ultimate level of bliss in Buddhism, could it be the same for the new Volkswagen Atlas? Well, we won't go that far, but we think it's a vehicle that will help you achieve something close.

The new VW Atlas for sale at Napleton's Volkswagen of Orlando, represents a new, larger initiative for the brand that reflects a new mobility in transporting not just one or two but up to seven passengers. Starting with two front seats, a choice of two captain's chairs or a three-passenger bench seat in the second row and a two-passenger third row, owners may carry 6- or seven passengers wherever they would like to go. It's the right vehicle for the right time and it just happens to be built here in the US in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Volkswagen Atlas - Looks & Technology in the Same Package

The Atlas is the newest sport utility offering from Volkswagen. Designed to spotlight the latest in technology, spaciousness, driving dynamics and fine detailing, it hits its mark and then some. But the best part is that it does so without a bank-breaking price tag. As it sits today, it is ready to carry your family, passengers and cargo on your next big adventure, wherever that may be. So hop in, buckle up and savor the experience.

Volkswagen Atlas Exterior

With its attractive looks and new modern, muscular design, the Volkswagen Atlas appears ready to handle any situation that comes its way. Using the strength of Volkswagen's award-winning MQB platform architecture that has found its way into everything from the Tiguan to the Golf, Jetta and Arteon, it shows off its wide, muscular stance with authority. From its wide grille with LED daylight running lights, to artfully sculpted fender bulges and expressive character lines, the look is at home on European Autobahns and American Highways alike.

Volkswagen Atlas Trim Levels

Available in a variety of trim levels, the Atlas can be ordered complete with Blind Spot Monitor, Front Assist, Rear Traffic Alert, and the SEL-based Volkswagen Digital Cockpit. All Atlas SUVs feature full LED front lighting (high-, low-beams and turn signals), Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED taillights (standard on SEL and SEL Premium models), and depending on models, a large panoramic sunroof.

New driver assistance features are everywhere: Atlas S buyers enjoy automatic headlights, heated side mirrors and rain-sensing wipers. The Atlas SE receives an automatic climate control system while the SE w/ Technology adds available 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels and a panoramic sunroof with Homelink remote control access. Finally, the Atlas SEL includes such features as Volkswagen's Digital Cockpit, Discover Media Navigation and LED taillights.

Volkswagen Atlas Interior

The VW Atlas interior is cleanly functional with a premium feel. With a cockpit designed for driver comfort and functionality, the layout insures driver involvement is the focus rather than a distraction. Everything from the seating position, pedal location, shifter height and other controls have all been designed with the driver in mind.

Seeing the Atlas is a three-row SUV, it strives to make good use of every square inch inside. The standard second row bench offers three abreast seating comfort with a 60:40 split, a backrest that reclines 14 degrees and the ability to slide back and forth by nearly eight inches. Seat coverings range from diamond-quilted fabric to leatherette, to proper leather depending on trim level.

If a six-passenger vehicle is more your style, you may outfit it with optional Captain's Chairs instead. The two-passenger third-row bench seat folds forward in a 50:50 split and can join the middle row for fold-flat functionality. There's also a plethora of charging outlets ranging from 12V plugs to USB ports and more. With all seats in their normal upright position, the Atlas offers 20.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity. Fold the third row flat, and that increases to 55.5 cubic feet. Finally, folding both rows yields 96.8 cubic feet of storage room.

Volkswagen Atlas Technology

The new Volkswagen Atlas from Napleton's Volkswagen of Orlando is loaded with technology. The 12.3-inch glass cockpit concept along with the 8.0-inch MIB II Infotainment system with capacitive-touch sensor technology is also here, using gesture, swiping and pinch-zoom controls similar to those found on tablets and smartphones.  With all this, it's clear there's plenty to impress.

Our favorite feature, though, would have to be the top shelf SEL Premium models offering the Fender Premium Audio System. Developed in conjunction with Fender Musical Instrument Corporation, maker of famous Fender Guitars and Amplifiers, and Panasonic, it is a powerful 480-watt 12-channel amp that delivers arena-sized sound to the entire Atlas interior, making it an SUV that thinks it's a Concert Venue.

Volkswagen Atlas Powertrain

Buyers of the new Volkswagen Atlas can choose between a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine, delivering 235 horsepower or a 3.6-liter VR6 six-cylinder that's good for 276 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for front (with 2.0-liter) or all-wheel-drive when equipped with the V6 and VW's 4Motion system.
