The new Volkswagen Passat for sale in Orlando FL is a mid-sized sedan from the German automaker that keeps getting better with age. That's better as in better looking, better performance car, better mileage and more.

Should we go on?

Now in its eighth generation, the new Volkswagen Passat  is designed with German style, but built in Chattanooga, Tennessee for the North American market. It's loaded with practicality too, now including Volkswagen CarNet and built-in Wi-Fi standard.

One of its main rivals is the mid-sized Toyota Camry. Now 37 years old, it has been a best-seller since its introduction in 1983. The Japanese car is available with a wide range of standard safety features and offers good looks and value.

Passat vs Camry Exterior

The new Volkswagen Passat is a four-door, mid-size sedan that looks sharp, coming or going. Introduced 47 years ago in 1973, the Volkswagen Passat has undergone quite a few changes and improvements that affect its handling and performance, not to mention its spaciousness.

The new Volkswagen Passat features a bold, yet conservative three-bar grille with a handsome and flowing greenhouse that is as aerodynamically fit as it is good looking. LED headlamps light the way and flow into body panels that lead the way to the rear deck of the car. The Toyota Camry has a swoopy, aggressive look that gives off a sporty pretense.

Passat vs Camry Engine

For 2023, the Volkswagen Passat features a singular engine choice. In this case, the VW Passat relies on a powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that makes 174 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. That's an increase of 22 lb-ft of torque over the previous model of the car.

A six-speed automatic transmission is standard throughout the range and offers more than enough power for nearly every situation. It is available exclusively in the front-wheel-drive configuration. The new Volkswagen Passat is available in S, SE, R-Line and top-line SEL models.

The all-new 2023 Toyota Camry is a popular and top-selling rival to the Volkswagen Passat. An aggressively-styled four-door sedan, the Toyota Camry is available with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine making 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.

It is joined by an optional 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 301 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are complete with a smart-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission.
